The Storytelling Festival is an exciting 5th grade tradition in Irving. Stipes' students can choose to participate in the festival and they compete for the title of "Master Storyteller". A plaque noting Stipes' "Master Storytellers" hangs in the school's entry hallway. To participate in the festival, students memorize a folktale of their choice and share the stories in an entertaining manner for their peers. Stipes' winner then shares the story at an evening event at Nimitz High School.
